What you get

A rating on every listed result

A coloured badge on the journal line, and a tint down the side of the result, so a page of search results sorts itself into tiers at a glance. Hovering a badge shows the matched journal title, publisher and ISSNs.

A summary that counts the page

Above the results: how many A*, A, B, C and unrated results this page holds. Click any tier to show only those results; click it again, or All, to bring the rest back.

Controls that stay out of the way

One switch turns the whole thing off. You can also fade unrated results, or hide individual tiers when you only care about the top of the list.

The ABDC Journal Quality List 2025 rates journals across business disciplines. There are four tiers — there is no D rating; the D in ABDC stands for Deans Council.

The whole list ships inside the extension, so lookups happen on your own machine. Nothing is fetched while you search.

How matching works

It would rather say nothing than say the wrong tier

Scholar prints the venue as free text, and a wrong rating is worse than a missing one. Three rules keep it honest.

A venue has to account for a whole journal title: A longer title is never quietly shortened until it matches something. Journal of Business Studies Quarterly is not on the list, so it stays unrated — it does not inherit the C held by Journal of Business Studies.
Shortened venues need every candidate to agree: When Scholar truncates the journal name, a rating appears only if every listed journal it could refer to holds that same rating. Those badges are marked with a ? and name the candidates on hover. Academy of management … stays unrated, because those titles run from A* through A to C.
Both of Scholar's layouts are read: Scholar has a narrow byline and a wide one, and only the wide one carries the full journal name. The extension reads whichever the page is using, so a wide-layout result gets an exact rating rather than a guess.
