Check the shortlist
- Read the aims and scope. A matcher compares wording, not fit. Check that the journal publishes your kind of study, method, and audience, and look at what it has published recently.
- Check the journal itself. Use Journal Intelligence for integrity signals and the Think. Check. Submit. checklist to confirm it is legitimate.
- Confirm it counts. Check the journal against your institution's indexing or ranking requirements. The SSCI, SCIE, AHCI, ESCI guide and the ABDC ratings tool can help.
